Abstract

Krishnamoorthi and Panayappan developed an imperfect manufacturing system with multi-delivery policy and rework for determining the optimal number of deliveries and production run. However, their model did not consider the quality cost of conforming products. In this article, the authors presents a modified Krishnamoorthi and Panayappan’s model for obtaining the optimal process mean (process quality level), production run, and the number of deliveries based on the minimization of the expected total cost of product per unit time. Taguchi’s asymmetric quadratic quality loss function is considered for measuring the product quality.
