Abstract
The small-signal instability problem of type-3 wind turbine (WT) in weak grid has recently attracting more and more attention. However, the grid-side converter (GSC) system is usually neglected in the existing works. In this paper, the small-signal model of type-3 WT considering GSC system is established firstly. Based on it, the system small-signal stability is analyzed by using the well-known impedance analysis method. The analysis indicates that GSC system cannot be ignored, and otherwise, it may cause the stability misjudgment. Moreover, the effects of many factors (e.g., the grid strength, PI current controller, PLL bandwidth, and control delay.) on the system stability are revealed. Finally, the analysis is validated by the simulation.
