Abstract
The development of a 6-port directional coupler is briefly described. Its application to a new technique of impedance measurement in which the magnitude and phase of the associated reflection coefficient are determined in terms of power measurements is shown. In contrast to a wellknown commercially-available network analyser the technique obviates the need for a complex heterodyne system. It is also potentially suitable for automatic wide-band impedance measurement.
