Abstract
There are various types and configurations of cables as explained in Chapter 1. Those are categorized in general in two types: (1) single core coaxial (SC) cable, and (2) pipe-enclosed type (PT) cable. Also, there are (a) directly buried cable, (b) tunnel-installed cable, and (c) overhead cable. In this chapter, the impedance and admittance formulas of an SC cable and a PT cable, either underground or overhead, are described starting from the formulation of the impedance and admittance matrices (potential coefficient matrix). Then, a formula of each element is presented, and an approximate formula is explained. Also, examples of the frequency responses are demonstrated. Finally, EMTP subroutines Cable Constants and Cable Parameters which calculate the cable related parameters explained above is introduced.
