Abstract

Abstract In this paper and demonstration we showcase an effective way to bridge the gap between Process Control theory and industrial practice for Chemical Engineers. A process dynamics and control training simulator, LOOP-PRO TRAINER, has been incorporated in the Chemical Engineering curriculum at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology for more than 20 years, successfully imparting industrially relevant skills to students. The training simulator integrates seamlessly with all elements of the Chemical Engineering curriculum where Process Control concepts are addressed, such as introductory courses, advanced project-based courses, and Unit Operations laboratory courses. The use of LOOP-PRO TRAINER in associate degree and continuing education programs is also discussed.
