Abstract

In our country, there have been reported 27 cases of impalement injury, 23 males and 3 females, since 1927. Ten cases of those were impaled by bamboo sticks. The rectum was injured in all cases, and the urinary bladder in 21 cases.It is the major problem in surgical management that events of the intraperitoneal cavity was dangerous, i.e., peritonitis, even if an impaled wound seemed small.Our two cases were represented.Case 1 : A girl, aged 8, jumped backward from a fence on to a bamboo stick.The stick through the anterior wall of the rectum was placed into the peritoneal cavity.Case 2 : When a man, aged 27, fell on his buttocks, the leg of an iron chair penetrated through his anus, and a rectovesical fistula was formed.
