Abstract

This article will discuss the impact of digital transformation on the efficiency of the public service in Sabah. Nowadays, the rapid development in technological advancement has seen the emergence of various advanced technologies that are capable of performing any job or task without involving humans. With the advancement of technology, the efficiency and productivity of an organization can be improved. However, the question is to what extent the public service in Sabah has applied the use of digital technology in ensuring the smooth running of each service provided. Therefore, this article will focus on discussing the extent to which digital transformation has an impact on the civil service in Sabah. In addition, the discussion will also focus on the government's efforts in improving the knowledge and skills of civil servants in the digital field so that they can carry out the tasks entrusted to them efficiently. This article uses a qualitative analysis approach and uses archival research and library research methods by analyzing various primary and secondary sources such as Annual Report of The Sabah State Public Service Commission, North Borneo and Sarawak Commission of Inquiry Statement, Annual Statement, Federal Public Service Commission of Malaya, newspapers, books and articles to obtain research information sources. This study will produce an analysis that can provide a clearer understanding of the impact of digital technology development on the quality of public services in the state as well as will enable strategic planning that can further strengthen the efficiency of public services in Sabah.
