Abstract
In this letter, we present a numerical investigation of impairments due to polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) in chaos-encrypted communication systems. We show that PMD could affect master-slave synchronization, hence degrading system performance at typical PMD values of deployed fiber plants. We also analyze the effectiveness of a first-order compensation.
