Abstract

M-type hexaferrites with chemical compositions of Sr0.5Ca0.2La0.3Fe12.0−2x(MnZn)xO19 (0.0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) were synthesized by the traditional ceramic method. The crystal structure of M-type hexaferrite samples was examined by X-ray diffraction. The structural analyses reveal that all samples are in single M-type hexagonal phase and no secondary phase is present. A physical property measurement system-vibrating sample magnetometer was used to measure the magnetic properties of M-type hexaferrite samples. The saturation magnetization (Ms), remanent magnetization (Mr) and coercivity (Hc) were calculated from magnetic hysteresis loops. Ms first increases with MnZn content (x) from 0.0 to 0.1, and then decreases with MnZn content (x) from 0.1 to 0.5. While, Mr decreases with MnZn content (x) from 0.0 to 0.2, and then increases with MnZn content (x) from 0.2 to 0.5. Hc first decreases with MnZn content (x) from 0.0 to 0.2, and then increase with MnZn content (x) from 0.2 to 0.5.
