Abstract
Proposal: The lack of considering the effects of the impact of Technological Information (TI) during the facility planning may cause the early obsolescence of educational facilities. This study discusses the impacts of technology on the built environment and its importance as a goal since the early stages of the architectural design. Methods: The Post-Occupancy Evaluation ( POE) methods included physical measurements, walkthroughs, behavioral maps, user interviews, focus groups and surveys questionnaires, in order to discuss the relationship between TI and the learning environments at three Sao Paulo Public schools. Findings: The POE carried out on three school buildings revealed the deficiencies of educational facilities, concerning TI as a tool for learning and instructional issues. Originality/value: The research explores the impact of TI at Sao Paulo public educational facilities through POE methods, in order to feedback future facilities planning and reforming goals. Os requisitos necessários para um projeto pedagógico adequado vêm sendo discutidos há décadas. A concepção de um edifício escolar demanda planejamento, no sentido de absorver e integrar as relações entre: ambientes pedagógicos, dimensionamento espacial, fluxos, acessibilidade, ergonomia, instalações e equipamentos básicos (Azevedo et al, 2004), sendo sensíveis às mudanças sociais e culturais. As instalações físicas dos edifícios destinados ao aprendizado precisam ser revistas periodicamente, reforçando a necessidade de que sejam dinâmicos e adaptáveis. Sanoff (2007) lembra que o leiaute de sala de aula típico, no qual as carteiras são dispostas em fileiras, sugere uma postura educacional cujo foco se volta para o professor, na qualidade de detentor do conhecimento. Um programa de necessidades compatível com as recentes demandas pedagógicas, considerando o projeto de ambientes flexíveis e o dimensionamento adequado de instalações são aspectos fundamentais para a utilização plena de escolas existentes e futuras
