Abstract

The mainobjective of the study is to investigate the epistemic construction of collective authorship and scientific authority in scientific productions of collaborative research on medicinal cannabis. The methodology involved bibliographic and documentary research to present, through the lens of open science, the impacts on sharing scientific data from collaborative networks. It discusses the changes in copyright with the introduction of communicationtechnologies, analyzes legal guidelines regarding scientific data, and proposes the concept of collective authorship. Multiple case studies were employed along with interviews with researchers studying the medicinal effects of the cannabisplant to examine the main discussions and transformations regarding the granting of authority in scientific production and the paths that copyright laws have been tracing. It is concluded that there is potential in the scientific field for the proposals of the open science movement, primarily due to the advantages of collaboration invarious instances, but copyright laws need advancements to support disputes over symbolic capital.
