Impacting the bottom line of field performance: Joint reservoir studies in three Venezuelan oil fields

Abstract

Reservoir studies have a significant impact on the bottom lines of oil and gas companies. This has caused national oil companies and global service companies to team up to share knowledge, expertise, experience, and technology that enhance reservoir studies. This article describes three such examples from Venezuela; the first two are from historic Lake Maracaibo in the west of the country and the third is from the prolific heavy oil sands towards the east. Figure 1 shows the general location of the fields.
