Abstract

Acoustic radiation from an impactively excited damped circular plate in an infinite baffle was obtained analytically by employing Rayleigh's integral. The resulting integral equations were evaluated numerically to obtain the on‐axis sound pressure waveforms. Theoretical results in the nearfield of the plate agree with previous experimental measurements [A. Akay, R. O. Cook, and C. W. Hamme, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 64, S174 (1978)] in predicting the sound pressure pulse due to rapid deformation of the plate. [Work supported by a W.S.U. grant.]
