Abstract

The urban agriculture at educational institutions is a strategy to improve and promote education, cultural exchange, social relations and recreation by allowing students to gain experience with nature and become more sensitive to the future of the environment and the planet since the lack of environmental education of children and young people leads to a lack of knowledge and implementation of environmental issues. The objective of the research was to assess the impact of urban agriculture on the environmental education of children and young people in the educational institutions of the city of Cuenca, and in turn, learn the importance of applying experimental works in the institutions. The methodology of this research is: comparative, inductive and deductive which includes: information search, information organization and analysis of the impact matrix of the three theses, the same ones that applied urban agriculture in the environmental education of children and young people, obtaining as a result from the impact matrix a percentage of 80% representing a positive impact. The research achieved in the students an active participation and interest in environmental education through urban agriculture allowing these activities to be well received in the institutions, where the experiments were carried out.KeywordsEnvironmental educationEducational institutionsImpact matrixUrban agriculture
