Abstract

Many firms attach great importance to innovative supply chain. It is a management practice to promote innovative supply chain culture through supply chain leadership behavior. Big data is the engine of the development of digital economy. Big data analytics capability can well help firms transform the massive and complicated big data into useful knowledge, and then serve leaders’ decision-making. The current study aims to bridge the gap in understanding how transformational leadership and big data analytics impact supply chain innovativeness. Using hierarchical Regression methods, results from a survey of 144 firms in China supported the hypotheses. The study findings show that there is significant positive relationship between transformational leadership and supply chain innovativeness. Moreover, big data analytics capability exhibited a moderating effect on transformational leadership - innovativeness relationship. Theoretically, this research has synthesized literature and develops an integrated research model that combines leader style and technology factors altogether to investigate supply chain innovativeness. Hence, we believe that our results will be useful for managers who are highly optimistic about the leadership role and focus on supply chain innovativeness, big data analytics, big data analysis technology capability, and big data analysis management capability.
