Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of mindfulness-based psychoeducation provided t individuals with previous myocardial infarction on their posttraumatic growth and mindfulness levels. The sample of this study, which was quasi-experimental with a pre-test posttest follow-up pattern, consisted of 50 patients, 25 in the intervention group and 25 in the control group. The mindfulness-based psychoeducation lasted a total of 8 weeks. The mindfulness-based psychoeducation program strongly affected the mindfulness levels of the individuals with previous myocardial infarction in the intervention group, but only partially affected their posttraumatic growth. Mindfulness-based psychoeducation can be used to support mindfulness and posttraumatic growth in individuals who have suffered a myocardial infarction.
