Abstract

The present study was under taken to investigate the impact of television viewing patterns on aspirations of secondary level students. In order to obtain the objectives of the study 200 secondary level students (112 boys and 88 girls) of different streams of education(Science, Art & Commerce) of class IX to XII were selected randomly from 10 schools of Budaun District. Theses 10 school were also selected on the basis of randomization from the list of higher secondary school of Budaun District. In the present study two tools were used for data collection Television viewing pattern and occupational aspiration scale (JS Grewal). First tool was developed by the researchers, because there was no such tool available for this. This inventory covered four main dimensions of television viewing patterns (time of television viewing, companionship, freedom to watch T.V., types of programme). The analysis of data revealed that T.V. viewing patterns influence the aspirations of secondary level students. There is found a difference in the television viewing patterns of secondary level students, varying in sex and streams of education.
