Abstract
Although it is recognized that socioeconomic status (SES) impacts health care delivery and its outcomes, the contribution of this variable to health is challenging to assess. Country-specific measures of deprivation are commonly used to examine disparities based on area SES. The English Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) incorporates income, employment, education, skills and training, health and disability, crime, barriers to housing and services, and living environment.
