Abstract

Due to the importance that reconfigurable antennas have in modern designs of low-profile antennas, a comprehensive study of the impact of slot parameters on the resonant frequencies of a rectangular microstrip antenna (RMA) has been undertaken and the results have been presented here. The changes exhibited in the first three resonant frequencies were graphed with respect to the changes in the values of the specific slot parameter. The impact of the slot length, width, and the position was thoroughly documented. Following the computational results, a few models were selected for manufacturing and the measurements performed on them showed a good agreement with the computational results.
