Abstract

Memory performance is of concern to everyone, but particularly to people with epilepsy. It is known that seizures, particularly when occurring early in the sleep cycle, can cause significant sleep disruption. Less certain is whether inter-ictal activity significantly disrupts sleep. There is a spectrum, however, from virtually constant “ictal” or “inter-ictal” activity seen in some children with electrical status epilepticus of sleep, or even benign rolandic epilepsy, to those with infrequent spikes.
