Abstract

Tantalum oxide (Ta2O5) nanomaterials were prepared from chelated tantalum ethoxide via sol–gel process. Bidentate ligands were employed in order to control the hydrophilicity of the precursor alkoxide. The photocatalytic efficiency of as-synthesised nanoparticles was studied towards the degradation of Rhodamine B dye in UV radiation. The photocatalytic efficiency of the nanoparticles was optimized.
