Abstract

Nowadays tendency of using renewable source is increasing due to environmental friendly nature of it and its economic benefits. One of the commons renewable sources is Photovoltaic (PV) system. Before utilizing PV system, operation of system in different conditions should be simulated in order to ensure stability and efficiency. This paper analyzed and simulated a PV system and observed the impact of non-Maximum Power Point Tracking (Non-MPPT) and latch current limiting on the fault condition operation of PV system and compared it with the similar PV system without these algorithms. Non-MPPT is a PI controller of boost converter, controls the DC link voltage and gets active in fault condition. Various kind of events consist of fault events and typical events which no fault occurred, have been simulated in MATLAB/Simulink to ensure accurate operation of controllers and algorithms.
