Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a comprehensive system of interconnected computing devices, digital and mechanical machines provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over the Internet based on machine to machine interaction. The Internet is based on an unreliable packet-switched network where the Quality of Service (QoS) factors (i.e., packet loss, latency, jitter, etc.) have effects on Quality of Experience (QoE) for the IoT services. This study investigated the correlation between the QoS three key metrics namely, packet loss, latency, and jitter and QoE for the IoT services by means of a subjective test. The findings of this work pointed out that QoS factors, including packet loss, latency, and jitter have a strong relationship with the subjective opinion score. This work provides opportunities for further studies regarding IoT services from the QoE perspective.
