Abstract

Microfinance scheme has evolved as an effective instrument for poverty alleviation in developing countries. The micro-financing scheme is dominated by self-help groups in India, which are aimed at providing a cost-effective mechanism for providing financial accommodations to the un-reached poor. Microfinance involves the provision of financial services such as savings, loans, and insurance to poor people especially women living in both urban and rural settings who are not able to obtain such services from the formal financial sector. The microfinance empowered rural women in numerous parts of their life. The investigation was done in the north-western state of Rajasthan, India to evaluate the effect of microfinance on empowerment. The present research work is carried out to analyze the impact of microfinance services on the empowerment of rural women borrowers in western Rajasthan.
