Impact of Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) Item Number Changes on Cardiac Investigations (Plain Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, Electrocardiography Stress Testing)

Abstract

Cardiac investigations are one of the most common investigations conducted in Australia. The Australian Government Department of Health has introduced changes to item numbers in the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) for Plain echocardiography, Stress echocardiography and Electrocardiography Stress Testing, effective from 1 August 2020. The major change is that these investigations cannot be claimed if done in previous 24 months.
