Abstract

As a dominant distributed generation (DG), wind power turbines are expanding in the grid. However, when large-scale wind farms integrated with the weak grid, it will change the power flow distribution, voltage profile which results in profound influence on transient stability of the power grid. It is important to study the dynamic response characteristics of the wind power generator in the case of fault in power network to assure the secure and reliable operation of wind farm, In this paper, A comparison of reduced-order models is made among three mainly used wind turbines which are constant speed wind turbine (CSWT), direct drive synchronous generator (DDSG), doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Then the transient characteristics were simulated and analyzed in the case of fault in network. At last the impact of wind turbine parameters on the wind turbine stability was discussed.
