Abstract

To the Editor: Early studies of isotretinoin for use in severe acne suggested that the drug may serve as a trigger for new-onset inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).1 Although more recent studies have suggested no such causal relationship, little is known about the medication’s effect on patients with a preexisting IBD diagnosis.2 This cross-sectional study evaluates the risk of IBD flare in patients with IBD treated with isotretinoin for acne.
