Abstract

The increasing penetration of PV on the distribution grid involves a number of issues, among which bidirectional flow, power losses and influence on voltage level can be highlighted. Additionally, PV systems support in fault events in the distribution network has been considered an important benefit of such systems. The issues surrounding short circuit events are the focus of this work. Computer simulations to evaluate the impact of a Solar Power Plant in an urban feeder, considering such events, are carried out. Several parameters influencing the short circuit severity are considered using a probabilistic approach. Curves showing the impact of PV systems on the severity of short circuits events are shown.
