Abstract

HV and EHV transmission lines impose hazards to generators connected to these lines that can be potentially more severe than similar hazards imposed to generators connected to lower voltage transmission lines. This paper reviews a number of these hazards and discusses some of the protection schemes and/or equipment techniques employed in the industry to detect and/or minimize the hazards.
