Abstract

In India, every year a large number of students are deprived of higher education because of their financial inability to take admission to a college or university. For the first time in India, the state government of Assam has launched a fee waiver scheme to give free admission to economically weaker students. To know the effectiveness of the scheme, an evaluative study was conducted among the beneficiary students from the Kamrup district of Assam.
