Abstract
In the sensor networks, traffic flow usually follows many-to-one pattern and thus results in some nodes carrying more load than other nodes in the network. This may results in the conception of energy holes near the sink. Different protocols exhibits different behaviour in the occurrence of energy holes problem. This work analyses and compares the impact of energy holes on the lifespan and performance of different ad-hoc routing protocols.
