Abstract

Background. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) is performed to assess HER2 gene amplification in case of equivocal immunohistochemistry (IHC) result (2+). The result of FISH test is based on the HER2/CEP17 ratio, so increased number of CEP17 signals may interfere with the FISH test result.
