Abstract

The decentralised science community aims to use new technologies, including smart contracts, to solve some of the issues related to current research and funding structures: reproducibility; misaligned incentives; challenges with peer review; diversity and inclusion. We discuss some of the routes to decentralised funding of biosciences research, including the emergence of decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs), to allow new ways of coordination and collaboration.
