Abstract

Brazilian beef cattle stands out in the national and international economic scene due to the improvements in production rates achieved in recent years. Genetic improvement is one of the main tools that guarantee the growth and development of livestock, while reproduction biotechniques, such as artificial insemination, in vitro embryo production and embryo transfer are used in order to increase selection efficiency, genetics and consequently accelerate genetic improvement in the herd. Given the importance of genetic improvement and reproduction biotechniques, this review will present data on tools available in raising beef cattle to raise production levels, aiming at a positive impact on the herd.
