Abstract

In a previous work focusing on the droplet growth along with the absorber for a post-combustion CO2 capture case based on CESAR1 solvent, a simplified kinetic model was used. A simplified kinetic model based on a pseudo-single amine was utilized but limited our understanding of the results. Improvements were needed as the CESAR 1 solvent is a blend of 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) and Piperazine (PZ) at a certain mole ratio and the reactive system when CO2 is present becomes complex. In this work, new kinetic models are developed for the individual components AMP and PZ, based on all available experimental information in the literature. Together with an improved eNRTL model for the quaternary AMP/PZ/H2O/CO2 system, the models are implemented in an improved droplet distribution version of the aerosol model.
