Abstract

The impact behaviour of a periodically forced oscillator with limiting stops is considered. Parametric studies are made to examine the influence of the various excitation and physical variables of the system on the frequency and intensity of contacts with the stops. The results of these studies and those of a companion paper can be utilized in related studies of noise and wear in mechanical systems with clearances.
