Abstract

Eighteen patients with chronic brucellosis who were anergic to dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) were found to have normal T-lymphocyte function as measured by the E-rosette test and the lymphocyte transformation test. No immunosuppressive factor was demonstrated in their sera and lymphocyte washings. It was concluded that the anergic state cannot be explained on the basis of deficient T-lymphocyte function. Further investigation into other aspects of the cell mediated immune system in these patients is thus indicated.
