Abstract
alpha 2-Macroglobulin was demonstrated immunohistochemically in macrophage-like cells of rheumatoid arthritic synovial tissue. It is concluded that these intracellular deposits probably represent phagocytosed protease-alpha 2-macroglobulin complexes. A contributing local production of alpha 2-macroglobulin is, however, not excluded by the present findings.
