Abstract
The concept of antigenic variation in malaria is supported by the present study on protective immunity. The immunity after infection is to some degree specific for each variant and falls rapidly after cure. Successive infections reinforce the immunity to subsequent challenge. The experiments to determine whether antigenic variation takes place in the mosquito were not conclusive, but suggested that it could occur.
