Immune-cell type, density, and location in colorectal tumours predicts clinical outcome, say Jérôme Galon (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, Paris, France) and colleagues. The researchers used gene-expression profiling and in-situ immunohistochemical staining to characterise tumour-infiltrating immune cells in patients with colorectal cancer (Science 2006; 313: 1960–64).
