This statement conflicts with recent findings (2, 3) in which patients with lepromatous and tuberculoid types of leprosy can be distinguished by the concentrations of their serum immunoglobulins. In lepromatous leprosy both IgG and IgM levels are significantly elevated, whereas in the tuberculoid type IgG and IgA levels are elevated.
