Abstract

This book which costs $22 has 385 pages of rather small print and a poor index. It is a hard cover edition of a Symposium held in February 1970 to which a large number of pediatricians with immunological interests and training contributed. The book does not tell the reader when the conference was held so his only information is that the book was published in 1971. This constitutes a major defect in the business of publishing symposia and conferences, particularly in a rapidly moving field such as immunology. The new standard for quick publication has just been set by the December 1971 publication of the August 1971 First International Congress of Immunology. The book which is the subject of this review does not have the virtue of being up-to-date. It is really a collection of papers and they offer a strange set of bedfellows.
