Abstract
We describe the immunocytochemical demonstration of hormones in pancreatic and pituitary tissue embedded in the plastic methyl methacrylate. Semithin sections were prepared for high resolution light microscopy and a broad spectrum of antibodies applied. Excellent immunocytochemical staining was reliably achieved with all the antibodies investigated combining strong positivity with good tissue morphology. The results were superior to similar studies we have previously performed with other acrylic plastic embedding media, and the method can be routinely employed in a diagnostic laboratory.
