Abstract

Substantial amounts of circulating antibodies to rumen enterococci were produced in a steer by using a course of immunizations with dead and live cell suspensions. The rumen population of enterococci for which the immunity was specific was depressed only transiently, if at all. These results indicate that the numbers of rumen enterococci are not influenced by serum antibody levels.
