Abstract
Government methods of determining payments to general practitioners for immunisations may discourage them from trying to achieve high uptake levels. Researchers at Portsmouth Polytechnic found that although some practices perform excellently in difficult areas, they do not reach performance targets. As a result, they will not qualify for target payments outlined by the Department of Health as part of the NHS reforms.
