Abstract

Anti-idiotypic antisera against the PC-binding Balb/c myeloma protein H8 were induced in A/He and Balb/c mice and a rabbit anti-H8 antiserum was rendered specific for the H8 idiotype by absorption. These different anti-idiotypic antisera were compared using inhibition of anti-PC plaque formation by immune Balb/c spleen cells. The inhibition profiles of the murine anti-idiotypic antisera resemble the inhibition curve obtained by free hapten PC while the heterologous anti-idiotypic antiserum has a profile similar to one obtained with a heterologous anti-μ serum. This finding indicates restriction in specificity and antibody heterogeneity of homologous and isologous and isologous anti-idiotypic antibodies raised against the H8 idiotype.
