Abstract
This paper examines some of the specific effects of cultural transition on immigrant families and the issues faced by their adolescent members because of the differential rates of parent-adolescent adaptation to a new culture. To be effective with these families, therapists need to adopt new paradigms that combine the best practice of professional training with an understanding of the richness of the immigrants' culture.
