Abstract

This study examines how scholarly research on immigrant entrepreneurship has evolved in the past by conducting a bibliometric citation meta-analysis. We analyze 1,207 papers containing 49,016 cited references and unveil the intellectual structure of research on immigrant entrepreneurship. We show the impact of key articles, authors, journals, and institutions and outline possible future research avenues. The study explores six sub-research streams and outlines how studies on immigrant entrepreneurship build on each other using a co-citation mapping technique. Based on the results of our analysis, we discuss opportunities for future research to advance the immigrant entrepreneurship literature.
