Abstract
This paper investigates how mediatization theories, and the notion of public sphere and deliberation are articulated by personal narratives as an emotional discursive strategy and interactional device aimed at online deliberation. For this purpose, we examine the case of the Instagram page “Brasileiras não se calam,” an activist organization that denounces cases of misogyny and xenophobia experienced by Brazilian women in Europe. Specifically, we analyze the commentaries under a harassment report. As a result, we argue that the personal report is an important interactional device for fostering public debate and for developing concrete activist actions against discriminatory situations.
