Abstract

The introduction of osseointegrated implants in dentistry symbolizes a turning point in clinical dental practice. Immediate loading of dental implants has recently gained popularity due to several factors including reduction in treatment time and trauma as well as aesthetic and psychological benefits to the patient. Today, immediate implant placement into fresh extraction sockets, is considered to be a predictable procedure. A series of well-controlled studies, suggested that immediately placed implants are as predictable as those implants placed in completely healed extraction sites, and that immediate implantation does not carry additional morbidity. This paper deals with, some important factors to be considered in order to ensure this predictability, as well as long-term acceptable esthetic and functional outcomes.
